The Battle of Batoche was a critical moment in Métis history.

With the act in place and all parties agreeing to the terms set forth in it, on June 15th, 1870, Manitoba became Canada’s fifth province.

The seemingly insignificant event of breaching a hunting regulation would evolve into one of the most significant legal cases for Métis citizens in the history of Canada.
